20 Jahre «Globi und der Schattenräuber»

“So, now you’ve done it!” In the film debut of Globi, the children’s book hero fights against the villain Maestro who steals musicians’ shadows and, by extension, their talent.

In 2003, “Globi and the Stolen Shadows” was not only intended as a cinematic tribute to the popular blue comic-book bird, but was also – with the help of various foreign coproducers – supposed to capture an international market. The producers gave the blue children’s book hero a “modern” anime look and added two young musicians and a robot egg at his side. Although the film is a bit muddled in its efforts to please everyone and did not live up to the high expectations of its makers, “Globi and the Stolen Shadows” is nevertheless a lovingly staged and imaginative work.

Fantoche is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the film – incidentally, the first ever Swiss animated feature film – with a birthday screening. Where better than Fantoche to celebrate such an iconic classic? (Olivier Samter)
