Three Robbers and a Lion

Not far from the quaint little town of Cardamom live the three robbers Casper, Jasper and Jonathan. They frequently sneak into town at night to break into the butcher’s shop or rob the bakery.

Their house is a total mess – robbers don’t tidy up and they definitely do not like to clean. The fact that the three live with a lion doesn’t make things any better. During one of their raids, the three are ambushed and end up in Cardamom’s prison. But they like it there surprisingly well: the beds are comfortable, the food is delicious and the barber gives them a dashing haircut. Is it possible that the robbers and the inhabitants of Cardamom might become friends at last? When the town is in danger, Casper, Jasper and Jonathan get the chance to prove that they are not so bad after all.

The film is based on the beloved Norwegian children’s classic “When the Robbers Came to Cardamom Town”. The tale was written by Thorbjørn Egner in 1955 and is so popular that it was given its own theme park in southern Norway, which served as the main model for the town of Cardamom in “Three Robbers and a Lion”. The 3D animation techniques used in the film are a mixture of real miniature sets and computer-generated protagonists. The film was a tremendous success in Scandinavia. (Meret Glausen)
